Some Things To Keep In Mind

Parents need to know that Book Creator (called Book Creator for iPad for iOS) is an app where kids and grown-ups alike can create their own e-books. Users pick images, place text, and choose background colors for assembling their book. Images are brought in from your device’s camera roll, and text is typed in the app itself. Images can be resized and repositioned, and text attributes can be changed. Books can have as many pages as needed and are saved as you go. A sample book is included in the app which also serves as a tutorial for learning how to use the app. Online help is also available via a link to your browser. Once users are done with their book, it can be opened in iBooks (iOS), Google Play Books (Android), or any number of other apps such as Dropbox, Evernote, and others. It can also be sent over email or saved to iTunes (iOS). Our review is based on the iPad version of the app; the Android version may have some differences in functionality.

The simple user interface helps to engage kids in storytelling as they create e-books using their own photos, drawings, audio (including their own voice), video, and text. Even first-time users can create a book.

The Support Level for Book Creator is about a 4 out of 5.

A sample book doubles as the app’s tutorial. Link to an extensive help and FAQ page on the developer’s website via the app’s “Support” tab.
