I have verizon fios and my xbox 360 nat was open yesterday and moderate today. ? ?

Q: i do not use a router anyone know how to make it open?

A: This is tricky to do b/c I have the same problem. I'm gonna assume you have a moderate level of computer skill since most people don't care about this. So you connect your Xbox directly to the modem (its actually a modem and a router fyi)? What you have to do is connect a PC to the router and access its user interface. Before you connect make sure your xbox is connected to Live. Type 192.168.1.1 into the URL bar in IE and you should come to the main page. I believe the default username is "admin" or "administrator" and the password is either blank or "password." You can google your modem/router model number and find the default. When you get in you should see "My network" and should see at lease three devices. One of which is your Xbox but it will be named "new-host" and your PC which should also have a similar name. Write down their IP addresses Then shut off your xbox then see which one of the devices is no longer shown in my network after you refresh the page. Then click "Firewall Settings" in the top middle; click "Yes" to proceed; click "DMZ Host" on the left; check the box for "DMZ Host IP Address:" and enter the IP address of your Xbox. Click "Apply." Turn on the xbox and test the network connection and it should be Open NAT. The DMZ Host basically puts your Xbox and only your xbox outside the firewall so it avoids the NAT restrictions. The problem is that your IP address occasionally changes if you have other things connected to the modem and the xbox is no longer the device with the open NAT. You may have to repeat this or just restart your xbox w/ all the other devices disconnected from the router.
