Q: Ok, so i have this 16gig usb drive and have a blu ray rip of 300. now i was wondering, if i put the 300 rip onto my usb drive and then hook the drive to the 360, will it play in stream off the drive in full 1080p high def? ive tried a few standard def movies, put them on the drive, and then watched them, and theyve all looked good, but wanted to know if the usb drive had the capacity to stream the blu ray movie at the highest bit rate.
A: Yes. USB2 can stream 1080p movies (like it does with the HD-DVD drive). You will need to make sure that your Xbox 360 has the update to play DivX AVIs etc. and that your USB Hard Drive is formatted in FAT format (as the Xbox 360 can't read NTFS). You should be able to view your AVIs at full 1080p provinding the AVI's resolution is actually 1080p and your HDTV supports 1080p, otherwise your Xbox 360 will scale the picture to suit your HDTV anyway.
