Q: do the membership cards for xbox classic and the 360 the same or are they 2 different and separate cards?
A: You cannot buy membership cards for an original Xbox membership(or, as it is now, you HAVE to buy a card from eBay or somewhere if you don't have one, unless you can find a game still with one in it). You must start a membership by getting a trial account card(they were sent with many games for free), or by calling Microsoft. Original Xbox memberships are only available in yearly increments, and are renewed automatically upon your anniversary date. Xbox 360 memberships can be started by using your Xbox 360 and clicking on "Join Xbox Live," or by purchasing Xbox Live Gold membership cards, and can be renewed automatically every year, or manually by buying cards of any length from one month to a year. You can "recover" your account, as they call it, to your Xbox 360, but you cannot recover it back to the original Xbox. You can recover your account to any 360 but cannot use more than one at a time.
