Q: My xbox 360 is less than a week old and i've already got a ring of red lights but the first time it had happened i was trying to fix my xbox live so it was on for a while and then i turned it off and on to see if that would help fix my xbox live but when i turned it on i got red lights. The second time this has happened the xbox had been off for a while (probably 16 hours) and when i turned it on i got the red lights. To fix this problem i unplug the power cord from the xbox and then plug it in and it's fine. It's only happened twice but twice in the first week isn't a good sign. Also i got the red rings when i turned on the xbox not during gameplay. So does anyone know why it would be doing this? Early sign of RROD? The xbox and everything it came with is clean, cool, and the xbox is in a good place. When I got the red lights the xbox and the cord was cool, that's why a simple unplugging of the power cord fixed it. I actually don't have the warranty but it's still under the store exchange policy. Too bad there's no way for me to back up the stuff that's on my box.
A: Hi, Yes it could be the start of it as sometimes it can be caused by the GPU becoming loose. Of course it does depend on how many lights you are getting. 1 red light = e74 2 red lights overheating 3 red lights = hardware failure 4 red lights = plug the av cable in. Hope this helps!
