As a parent of a young child who is using this game, you should know that this is a game where the kids can chose the outfit, hair, accessories, makeup, and other things for the model. They can chose any kind of style, whether it be red carpet, sporty, or whacky. Any combination of accessories you can think of. Even background scenes are a choice to change. Upon finishing the makeover, the kids can save the image to their camera roll, and email it to whoever they chose to. You can chose whether or not to have your email turned on during their Beauty Princess Makeover experience. The HD version is available of the iPad and available online. The Non-HD version is available for the iPhone and iPod. Beauty Princess Dress Up and Makeup Game for Kids HD is designed to be an educational app for kids 5+, but 4 year olds can easily figure out how to work through it. A big thing you need to keep in mind is that there are a ton of ads. Ads pop up way too much for a kids game and clicking on the ad to get it away instead of waiting the 30 seconds for it to go away will result in the phone or iPad taking you to the app store to buy the game that was advertised. It is very hard to even get past the home page without an ad popping up which makes it extremely difficult to maneuver and play. Once you make it past the home page to select a princess model, many more ads pop up which do not have an exit button. The app may be frustrating for a child let alone anyone. After a while, and after many ads, it will ask if you want them removed, which costs money to do.

There are three different models to chose from, and when you select one, she pops up in a dressing room. We suggest that this game be for girls because when they are in the dressing room they are in a bra and underwear, or only undergarments.

The first option down at the bottom to start the makeover is the lips which automatically pop up at the bottom section of the screen. As you chose a pair of lips, they pop up huge across the whole screen and you need to make them smaller to fit on the model. This portion teaches the young girls proportion and size differences. Next you chose the hair, which also comes up large and needs to be shrunk. This option allows for many hairstyles and can be rotated or changed as needed. Next you chose what you would like her to wear for undergarments, which includes anything from bikinis to undies and a bra. The following option choses a shirt and the next choses a skirt or a pair of pants. The last makeover option is the shoes which need to be proportioned and fit as needed. When you chose something to add to the model, the editing options are mirror, vertical, rotate left, rotate right, bigger, smaller, or trash. A lot comes into play when you chose an article or an accessory, and more than one article of clothing can be added to the model unlike many other games like this one. Many of the makeover items are locked and can be unlocked with the pro (paid) version of the app.

Overall experience of this app is rated at a 2/5, due to accessibility to much easier makeover apps. Although the overall experience is rather low, this game has a learning experience of 3/5, teaching the young girls how to proportion and how size matters. Deep thinking of how an item should fit is a part of the game and is needed to make sure the correct options are chosen. As a team of specialists, we concluded that our opinion (once past the ads) is that the game is hard to maneuver and hard to work around for young children, and one of the harder makeover games.
