As a parent, you need to know that Badoo is to discover fun people, chat with strangers, and share photos and interests with them. This is not compatible for kids of any age, nor will it ever be. If you find something interesting about someone you can immediately start chatting with them and getting to know them, which is dangerous if anyone under the age of 18 or 21. You can add your interests and your likes to your profile and rank higher among the chances to find someone who you share the same interests with. Once two profiles match, they have the ability to talk. Again, this should not be an app that children or anyone under the age of 21 use. If your child has this app downloaded, please remove the device and block the app/take it off as soon as possible.
Upon opening the app, there are two options to sign in with. You can sign in with Facebook or you can sign in with bad, or create an account. Opening a new account has three things that are mandatory to get it started. 1. Gender 2. you are here to…. (3 options) 3. information card. The information card asks for your email, name, and location, which you do not have to grant access to. In order to see other people’s interests and hobbies, you must first add your own and present pictures of yourself. Profiles come up and you are able to like their picture (showing interest) or exiting them out. They are notified when you like their profile and they have an option to rate you back based on your profile. In the menu options, you can see your profile popularity, specific encounters, people nearby, messages, see what people have liked you, see your visitors, view the favorites, and invite friends to join Badoo. When you chose the option to see what people have likes you, you have the option to like them back or chat with them. To gain popularity, you must add a decent amount of attractive pictures to your photo book area. When messaging, it acts as another device to be social. The social media app is directed to meet new people, which can be friendly or for dating. Anyone can contact you at any given point, and profiles are not private. There is an option to buy credits and refill them, but they do cost money.

For profile verification, it asks for your phone number, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, linked in, and photo. We suggest strongly against giving Badoo those things, especially linked in because linked in is meant for professionalism.
We rate Badoo at a 3/5 overall experience for anyone above the age of 21. For anyone below the age of 21, we rate this application at a -5/5 or in better words, should not even be considered. It is very inappropriate and involves content that is very sketchy to be around anyone who is underaged. The learning rating is about a 2/5, because the interests and hobbies of individuals are learned through the communication. Communication is key, and although this type of communication is not the greatest way of learning about someones life, it is better than nothing. We still find this app very dangerous and sketchy and suggest to never give out personal information. That also means not filling out certain pieces of the profile to protect yourself.
