Q: From a gamer's perspective, what's the difference between the Pearl and Diamond versions? I have bought the Pearl version for my 8-year-old son, and am wondering if I should buy the other one as well as a gift at a later time. Both seem to be very popular and have very good reviews.

On the cover of Diamond and Pearl, those 2 Pokemon are just some of the Pokemons that are exclusive to each version. You can give the person the other version as a gift, but it's kind of pointless unless he has another DS, in which case he can trade Pokemon with himself.
