psp question. help?

Q: i have a new psp, so my questions are maybe bit ignorant: what is a firmware? how do i upgrade, why do i need to upgrade? how do i put games? are all games compatible? thanks in advance for answering..

A: It's okay, I'll be glad to answer your questions. For your first question, "firmware" is like software in a way. It has valuable "code" which can make your hardware (PSP) safer, run smoother, have more applications, and usually has something "new" added to it. In short it is really useful. Lets say that some hackers found a way to exploit the PSP to preform illegally, it can brick (render your PSP useless) your PSP or expose valuable information that they can use. For your second question, it is not absolutely necessary to upgrade your PSP. If you don't upgrade your PSP then in the future you won't be able to play certain games because the firmware updates add things to your PSP that may need to be on it for a game to run. To put games on your PSP you can go here http://store.playstation.com/game/index.vm Most cost money but you can find many PSP demos. And only PSP games or the games you download off the PlayStation store are compatible on your PSP.
