Q: No fanboy answers please. i need to make a decision. Money=no issue. So basically im a playstation guy. i've got a ps1 and ps2. i always planned on buying a ps3. but my friend just made a comment to me about 10 mintes ago, that noone in my neighborhood has a ps3, and that about 30 360s are. i also won't deny that 360 has a nice online (and again money not an issue, i make one year of XBlive in a day). So the whole online gaming experience would be wayy better for 360, opposed to the 4 friends that have a ps3. But, i have a psp, which was recently bought just for the ps3 (but i can enjoy it without a ps3).now im a more RPG guy (although i can see me getting into FPS) and was looking forward to Ratchet and clank, and also resistance FOM.so the games are a reason for ps3 also.from someone who maybe has both, what do you think i would enjoy most from my perspective? the pros and cons to my situation? Reccomemded games/ accessories for your choice? thanks and excuse the grammar. tryin to fit i also have some bluray movies that were recieved for xmas and my brother opned so i can't return... anyone have news of xbox blu ray player :)? Wow.. you guys are making me change my mind again...What about buying the 360 now, and ps3 next year, would that make sense?(updated after the 3rd answer)
A: For online play, it doesn't really matter the ratio of xbox's to ps3's in your neighborhood. You will quickly have friends in other states and other countries, even other continents. Online games like Warhawk are so good at preventing lag that people can play in the same games across 10 time zones with no problems at all. If money is no issue, xbox live might be more attractive. But PSN is better than people say, and Home will eventually finally be released. So there's no great advantage to either. If money ever is an issue, though, PSN/Home will have the advantage. The bottom line you should consider, though, is the potential of the hardware. The ps3 is twice as powerful as the xbox in terms of floating point capacity, 2 Tflops to 1 Tflops. It has 7 3.2 ghz cpu's vs 3 for the xbox, and is capable of "streaming" which has the potential to speed games up dramatically. Many developers say they've tapped about 80 percent of the xbox hardware's potential, and less than half of the ps3's. In the future you are likely to see games get better on ps3, but xbox games stay basically at the same level. PS3 also has faster memory, its system memory is lower in actual megabytes but higher in "memory bandwidth" because of its speed, making it more efficient at running 3d graphics. PS3 games are also on blu-ray discs. You can assume Microsoft would like to add a blu-ray player to xbox, but that would be in the unforeseen future, if sony even allows them to have one. BD discs are up to 50gb for dual-density, and ps3 games are already going way beyond xbox games in terms of content. Metal Gear Solid 4 will use all 50 gb of its disc. Even old ones like RFOM used 16gb. Some popular rpg's on ps3 are uncharted drake's fortune, heavenly sword, folklore, and of course metal gear solid 4. Also elder scrolls 4 oblivion has a ps3 version.
