Is the SNES system RCA or Coax?

Q: I need to get an adapter for my friend's SNES. Is it three-pronged RCA or coaxial?

A: The SNES uses a multi-tap A/V cable (RCA connectors) that's been standard since 1991 for all Nintendo systems as well as the RF switch (Coaxial). The multi-tap A/V cable is the best choice for quality, but if your TV is old... the RF switch will still work. You can get both through Nintendo directly at http://store.nintendo.com -- For the RF switch, look for the RF adapter kit as the RF switch was discontinued for system use in 1996.
