Q: Um...I just got my R4 for my DS, but it didn't come with the CD-Rom, I've heard it's useless because you can just download the latest version of the program, is that true? if so, where? and what do I do with the program once it's downloaded?
A: The CD is totally unnecessary. Go to this website and download the latest version of the software--the kernel dated 2008-3-18 (the very first one). Link here: http://www.r4ds.com/download-en.htm You will need to unzip it using Win Rar. If you don't already have Win Rar, you can download the trial software free here: http://www.soft82.com/download/Windows/WinRAR You can then extract it either to your computer, or right onto the SD card--put the micro SD card either into the USB drive or you can use the SD card adaptor if your computer has a card reader built in. After transfering the kernal software onto the micro SD card, you then just slide it into the R4 flash card--and turn on your DS! Really, that's all! The R4 menu should come up and you should be able to figure it out from there.
