Q: Most of the time, I mainly get just bananas, fake item boxes, green/red shells, and 1 boost mushroom. I know that there are more items than that. But why am I not getting them?
A: All right, the reason why you are not getting the good items is because you are ahead of the whole group. 1st to 4th place usually gets nothing but shells and bananas. 5th to 8th place can get better items, like blue shells, golden mushrooms, and maybe even that Thunder Cloud. 9th to 12th place gets the better items, mainly. The item balance IS weighted on which place you are in, in about every Mario Kart game.
