A: If you have a broadband Internet connection, you can play online. It won't tie up the phone line. You'll need either a router (which is wireless, and lets you also hook up things like laptops), Nintendo's wireless USB adapter (now discontinued, but you might be able to score one on eBay, I've also heard about the Datel WiMax) or the wired solution (Nintendo's wired LAN adapter, a network hub switch and a LONG Ethernet cable).
